During the Cebu Trip 31 from October 8-12, 2024, a series of site visits and meetings were conducted to evaluate the environmental and community impacts of projects at the Guinabasan and Balamban Rivers in Danao City, headed by project lead – Rowella Vitug and Junior Hydrologist – Anna Gladys Ubaña. The trip began with a presentation at the Municipal Office of Danao City, where officials from the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) reviewed the project’s scope, environmental considerations, and benefits for both residents and the city government. Following this, the team conducted manual gauging at the Guinabasan River, collaborating with Ms. Jubie Fortuito and Mr. John Patrick Banila to calibrate the stream gauge of JWPI. Using specialized equipment like a flow meter and flow probe, the team also inspected a proposed relocation site, ensuring it met the necessary requirements for future developments. These activities provided valuable insights into the environmental dynamics of the rivers, supporting sustainable development efforts in Danao City.
